The Appliances

For the third installment in the Friday the 13th franchise, there were several appliance designs. All three designs were worn by Richard Brooker and the first is known as the "Winston" design, sculpted by industry legend Stan Winston. This mask was used for the "hood", whenever we see Jason with his mask on.
The next design, dubbed the "Reveal" design was sculpted by Doug White. This version made the ultimate cut of the film for when Jason reveals his face for the first time in this installment.
Also sculpted by Doug White, the "Flashback" design appears briefly in the film while Christie is recounting her interaction with Jason.

The Mask

The third installment of Friday the 13th brings us Jason's iconic hockey mask design that we all know and love. The mask for this film was created by sculpting longer edges onto a vintage Fibrosport medium mask to create a "buck" and then making a vacuum-formed mask over top of that. The mask was painted white on the front and back, then finished on the front with an amber-toned varnish and red chevrons. The masks made in this film would go on to become the source of many later masks in the series, as illustrated by the timeline to the right.
This film sees 2 masks make the screen, the "hero" and the "stunt", but 3 were made on set that we know of. All three are pictured and labeled to the right.
  • The hero mask was used in several promotional shots and posters in the following years, but industry testimony says that it eventually rotted in the sun outside the studios of Reel FX.
  • The stunt mask was used in the next 2 films and is now owned by a private collector.
  • The third mask is known as the "mystery mask" and currently resides in the Hollywood Museum in California.

The Outfit

The shirt worn by Jason in part 3 is either a 6 Button Sears Work n Leisure Work Shirt, or a 6 button Big Mac shirt in the color Olive Drab. While Sears shirts carry over all of the features needed to match the hero shirt, there is one Big Mac shirt that does the same. Until there is more proof or the original surfaces, it is impossible to tell which was used. These shirts are pretty hard to come by, but they are totally worth the cash! The shirt had the right pocket flap removed but it’s not known when, why, or by who.
The exact brand of pants worn by Jason in Part 3 is unknown at this time, but we can see that they are silver-grey khaki pants that are lightly weathered would do the trick. Judging by the size of the belt loops, it is likely that Jason's pants are Dickies.
Jason also wears a vintage style Garrison Basket Weave Belt with a square buckle.
The boots worn by Jason in Part 3 are Vintage Black Genesco Jump Boots.
Weapons used by Jason in this film include a 5 tine pitchfork, 22" Collins MK2 Machete, Vintage Dexter 5289 Meat Cleaver, 8" Butcher Knife (unknown brand), Single Head Plumb Felling Axe, speargun, and a black iron fire poker.
